Marcus understands people and writing. The son of a minister father and a journalist mother, he studied both disciplines in university and graduate school. He brings the rare combination of having worked both as a pastor for eight years and as a newspaper reporter for five before he turned to writing books full time.

Marcus earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical education and journalism from Multnomah University, and a master’s degree in theology and writing from Talbot Seminary at Biola University.

He lives with his wife and children in Washington State.

Buck Compton recounts his experiences before, during, and after World War II in this courageous, personal and thoughtful memoir. Compton commanded the second platoon of Easy Company in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st Airborne Division. He was portrayed by actor Neal McDonough in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. After the war, Compton went on to a career as detective, prosecutor, and judge. He served as the lead prosecutor in Sirhan Sirhan’s trial for the murder of Robert F. Kennedy.
